"Cars" - Rambling for Wednesday, October 10, 2001
Do you like cars? That is the simple question posed by one of the ads on the television these days. (interesting fact: the word "television" is often shortened to "TV")
I saw aforementioned ad, and thought, "Well, do I?"
This prompted me to do a hell of a lot more thinking. I also watched some more TV. And then I realised - hey! Ryan likes cars. Ryan is a friend of mine, I met him in a pie contest (it was eating, throwing or the other one, I can't remember)... I'll tell you the story.
I was sitting there with my pies, and my model boat (of course), when this strange man came up to me. Other stories mention strange men, but they've got nothing on my strange story man. A strange man in a novel by someone like Francis Clyde (in his book Deepenings of Dark), the strangeness is just due to the fact that the protagonist (Karl Reinbringer) doesn't know the "strange" person. But when a man comes up to you and his arms are twice as long as his legs and his neck is twice as long as that, then that's strange.
"Baaaaaargh." he asked me.
"What?" I answered, "You're talking gibberish, you freak. Get away from me!"
Suddenly, out of the paisley, came Ryan. I didn't know he was Ryan at the time, though. (but I do now) He tackled Mr. Weird to the ground. "Stay away from him!" he shouted.
"Aaaaaar. Aaaaar." he pointed out.
"Ryan! His weak spot is his kidney!" I shouted.
But suddenly, Freako the Freak jumped out of Ryan's amazing karate sloth-lock, and the fight was on.
And that's how I met Ryan.
